Opus West Inks Tenants Jacobs Carter Burgess and AcademyX for Gateway Corporate Center @ Sacramento Gateway

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (January 8, 2008) — Opus West Corp. rings in the new year with two new leases at Gateway Corporate Center @ Sacramento Gateway, a Class A office development located in the North Natomas area of Sacramento, Calif.  In the project’s Building A, national engineering, design and planning firm Jacobs Carter Burgess, Inc., will occupy 25,000 square feet, and AcademyX, a San Francisco-based computer training company, will occupy 3,300 square feet. Building A is the first completed building of what will be four separate office buildings in the 590,000-square-foot business park.

“Interest in Gateway Corporate Center remains consistent as evidenced by these deals,” said Don Little, senior vice president of Opus West in Northern California.  “The strategic location and the high quality building environment support our tenants’ business goals and need for a top quality corporate setting.  Additionally, the complex offers diverse amenities and provides employees with access to a number of restaurants, lodging and shopping options all within walking distance.”

Gateway Corporate Center’s Building A, located at 180 Promenade Circle, consists of 120,000 square feet of office space.  It features a steel frame and high-end finishes, including lobby floors made of travertine field stone and walls finished with cherry wood wainscot.  It is situated with unobstructed freeway frontage visibility from Interstate 80, where more than 145,000 cars pass daily, and within one mile of Interstate 5.  Construction on Building B is set to commence this year, with the four-building project scheduled for completion in 2010.

AcademyX took occupancy on Jan. 1, 2008.  Jacobs Carter Burgess is moving its award-winning Sacramento office to Building A’s third floor, effective July 1, 2008.

“We’re very excited about our new space and look forward to taking occupancy this summer,” said Patrick Flynn, vice president at Jacobs Carter Burgess.  “Opus West has brought a premier office product to the region which provides excellent visibility, easy access and close proximity to other commercial space.  This strategic location will position us well with our clients.  Additionally, the Opus team possessed a high level of professionalism, which made the leasing process an incredibly smooth one.”

Brokers Tom Heacox, Tom Bacon, Chris Lemmon and David Brandenburger of Cornish & Carey Oncor International are representing Opus West in the leasing of Gateway Corporate Center.  Murray Wachtel of Cornish & Carey Oncor International represented Jacobs Carter Burgess and Scott Bennett of Grubb & Ellis represented AcademyX.

In addition to the two new leases at Gateway Corporate Center, Bank of America is signed to occupy a 5,000-square-foot out-parcel in Opus West’s adjacent retail complex, The Promenade @ Sacramento Gateway.  The Promenade and The Village @ Sacramento Gateway boast 700,000 square feet of restaurants and shopping.  The office and retail space combined comprise 1.3 million square feet.  Sacramento Gateway is centrally positioned within 10 minutes of downtown Sacramento, the State Capitol, Sacramento International Airport and the foothill communities of Placer County.
